Today we woke to a chilly morning in Debuche, soon warmed by porridge and toast. We then walked up to Tangbouche where we sat in on the morning prayers within the monastery. The experience was quite incredible and we were all shocked when we learnt that what we thought were the ‘morning’ prayers proceeded throughout the entire day. After a steep descent and a steeper climb we stopped for lunch an hour before Namche. Lunch was a glorious spread of Tibetan bread, fried rice, streamed veg and chicken sausage. In Namche everyone explored the streets, stocking up on presents for the folks back home. Dinner was popcorn and soup, followed by pasta, chicken, steamed veg and chips. After some lazing around, book reading and cricket watching we all trudged off to bed with our hot water bottles, ready for a cosy night’s sleep.
