Following on from our delicious meal last night we were lucky enough to see the full moon reflecting through ice crystals in the clouds; creating a rainbow-like effect. This rare occurrence was made even better by the silhouette of Ama Dablam in the distance.
On the morning of the 8th day we woke at 6:30, had a lovely breakfast and began walking. The walk was steep to begin with as we spiralled around the hill below Khumbu Yalhu. We stopped for lunch at Mondo, filling our bellies with bread, pasta and steamed vegetables. After refuelling we descended into the valley and back up again to our camp at Dole. Along the thin track, we came across an unidentified squirrel-like animal with an incredibly fluffy tail. Adding to the list of new sights we also came across a handful of frozen waterfalls which were each as wonderful as the last. All up the day was about 5-6 hours of walking; we were all exhausted when we arrived at camp at 4:30. During the remainder of the afternoon we rested, drank hot chocolate and had a gorgeous dinner before braving our cold tents.
