Pat Spiers has been selected to be our guest teacher on the South West Marine Debris Cleanup. His job is to report back to us each day during the cleanup which starts on 6th March.
Pat is normally a teacher at the Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre in Sydney where he creates and teaches challenging environmental learning adventures and lessons for students ages 5-18. Lots of these students live in very built-up city suburbs and do not have much experience with natural environments - in other words they can be a bit scared of going bush!
Pat loves creating learning experiences that have the right amount of challenge to give these city students a buzz, connect them with nature and make their subject learning topics come alive.
Pat also helps teachers learn how to use technology in the outdoors to make their classes exciting and creative.
We'll meet the rest of the team during the expedition but you can find out more about them here >>
This school outreach is possible with the support of the Alcorso Foundation and is part of our shared interest in marine litter. See more here>>
