Early this morning a lone albatross was spotted at Brisbane airport.
By 12.30 I'd escorted the unnamed albatross to a very warm Hobart ready for our great adventure to Albatross Island. A quick meeting with the crew gave us a timeline for our adventure. Monday 5th in Hobart, Tuesday 6th pack our gear and drive to Smithton, then Wednesday to the island!
Conversations over lunch centred around important details like where do we go to the toilet, where do we shower, how to collect albatross poo and, strangely enough, projectile vomiting. I now have a solar battery charger to keep all my devices humming and we will meet with Kris and Julie over the next few days to pack our equipment.
What would you pack for 5 days on an island? Remember we have to carry everything to the cave so think light and portable!
The albatross with no name was last seen relaxing in a park in Hobart, meeting other birds.
