G'day all! It's day two here on the wild Three Hummock Island. Our adventures today consisted of looking for the burrowing crayfish and trekking through different areas of the island. We started off with cold and rainy weather, trying to find the homes of crayfish and hopefully other species. Alastair, our very informative and scientific friend, trudged through knee deep muddy waters trying to catch and dig up the crayfish. Through out our trekking and crayfish searching, we were constantly on the lookout for another species of native birds to tick off on our 'Bird Bingo.'

Going Cray Cray
After successfully catching and observing some crayfish, we visited a swampy environment, where we spotted two black swans. We also scooped up a net of tadpoles, dragonfly larvae, beetle larvae and a leech. With a little more walking we found ourselves on a stunning beach with crystal clear water and massive sand dunes in the distance. One of our more unexpected moments was getting a fright from a snake sunbaking on the track. After our scaly visitor we headed on to the '5 Sisters,' that were huge boulders covered in beautiful red lichen. This lichen is in fact little living critters! After all our searching, trekking and discovering we were knacked and crashed on the couch in our sleeping bags. After which we enjoyed a wicked pasta bake made by Layah and Paul to wrap up our night.
