We left the North-East corner of Tasmania and headed to another corner. On the way we stopped near Pipers River to search for Egbert. One eagle was spotted but it was too far away to tell if it had a transmitter on its back. We saw a lot were forest ravens. If you do an official survey at the end of next week you’ll probably see some too. Grey currawongs, scarlet robins, and magpies were also on the move today.
As we drove west the drizzle increased and we knew there was a low chance of seeing the three tracked eagles up here. But even still, there was one sea eagle, two swamp harriers and a couple of brown falcons dodging he raindrops.
We are camped at Nelson Bay in the Arthur Pieman Conservation Area tonight and will begin our journey towards Hobart tomorrow. Over the next few days Jamea will catch up on his lab work and I will take some young eagle spotters to Bruny Island.
Today’s t-short winner is: winter23 for eagles helmets suggestion.
