Fiji Power 2017 Day 2 : 02-10-2017

What an early start- a 5:15 am wake up to head through customs to our plane at Sydney Airport (deja vu anyone?), where we finally took off and were on our way to Nadi Airport. We landed and were greeted by warm weather (draki kata kata) and brilliant Fijian musicians. We sailed though customs, arrived at the Nadi Bay Resort, and were relieved from the warm weather with a quick synchronised swim. On our way to the resort the traffic was bumper to bumper as there were roadworks going on that have lasted three years! However, it was exciting to take in the new surroundings, different landscapes and culture at a nice relaxed pace.

Once we were settled we went for a swim in a really nice pool, had some races and some synchronised swimming lessons. We then headed back to our room and sorted through the fantastic STELR Renewable energy kits that we would be gifting to schools and using to teach Fijian students. These kits are a great way of learning and putting energy into practical and everyday use. These kits covered many energy uses such as solar, wind and hydro in a creative and innovative way. We are looking forward to teaching the students in a fun and interesting way about the concepts of electricity and the benefits of using a renewable energy source. We finished the night with a sing song about solar energy, "here comes the sun" its alright.....

Before dinner, our wonderful hostess, Lucy, spoke a masu, a Fijian thanks before a meal. After dinner we then came back to our room and debriefed for tomorrow’s events, sang songs and further prepared for our trips to the villages. We look forward to arriving at our Fijian hosts house, Ben and Mere tomorrow (mataka).
