This morning we woke up back at the wonderful Mere’s home. We had a much needed relaxing morning before heading over to the Wah residence. Doctor Wah, the former director of the Fijian Higher Education Commission, had invited us over to lunch.
There we met the 12 children that he and Mrs. Wah look after, many of whom are wards of the state. We performed our songs for the kids and were treated to a fantastic song and dance routine by them in return. After lunch we spent several hours showing the kids renewable energy kits. We made solar crickets and cars. We used solar panels to show how you can get more voltage using series circuits and talked about what you can use this for. The sound of the buzzer from the testing station could be heard all afternoon. The kids were very enthusiastic about experimenting with the solar and wind kits, and they learned a lot. It was absolutely amazing to be able to explain things to smaller groups of children and we feel very happy about how much we showed them.
Today was our most successful presentation so far, plus we had great fun meeting more Fijian kids. This trip has been “wananvu”.
