Fiji Power 2016 Day 12 : 06-10-2016

Oh no, our last full day in Fiji! It has been an absolutely fantastic, amazing trip and leaving tomorrow will be a bitter-sweet experience. After breakfast we decided to sort out all the photos from this trip, we only managed to get to day 5 as we took more than 3000 photos. We then left the hotel and spent the day in Nadi town shopping for some souvenirs. At the markets we learned that the first price you are given is ten times the price you get if you can bargain. “The boys got their souvenir shopping over quickly and headed off to a water park while the long suffering David accompanied the girls on an epic shopping spree that lasted forever and went back and forth and back and forth.” (David’s quote). 

Following shopping, we jumped on a bus to the Westin Resort at Denarau for a swim. The bus, full of school children on their way home, passed through lots of villages and stopped at almost every house in the village. This was quite interesting seeing the simple Fijian houses so close to an area with huge rich western houses with yachts and was eye opening. At the resort we enjoyed a swim and chatting with each other. There were also some Fijian traditional dancers who were performing a “meke”. It was amazing to watch. Our last supper was at an Indian restaurant, everyone is feeling a bit sad to leave but also excited to go home to spend time with family. – Rachael
