Day seven already and everyone is still exhausted after yesterday, but fortunately today was a relaxing day. Breakfast was delicious as usual but this time Ben chose to play some music for us while we ate and when we were doing the blog. This morning we also had warm showers, all thanks go to Greg. He has installed a gas hot water system at Mere’s house. However, the option for a cold shower was still there because some people enjoy how refreshing a cold shower can be. Once everyone was ready we walked to the bus stop and caught a bus to the Navua markets and it was a surprisingly short trip. We were able to help Mere with her weekly shopping and it was very exciting to experience the traditional Fijian way of market life. We noted the difference in the way the markets were laid out, all the food was on the ground and we also noticed that most of the produce was sold by Indians. The Indians have really contributed a lot to the country and Fiji would be very different if the Indians hadn’t come along.

When we were finished at the markets we caught a taxi back to Mere’s house where we participated in some music lessons, courtesy of David. He taught us how to play simple tunes on the guitar. By the time we had finished with those it was time to leave to go see the AFL grand final.
We caught a bus to the bar at Pacific Harbour where we sat and watched the very close game between the Western Bulldogs and Sydney Swans, in the end both teams played a very strong game but the Western Bulldogs managed to get the last few goals in that sealed the deal and they won the 2016 AFL grand final. For those who weren’t watching the game, we were outside playing volleyball at the fire station with some Fijians that were fantastic at volleyball and were able to spike the ball with an amazing force! After all the sports were finished we went to the restaurant next door and had a big family dinner and then headed home in a taxi and we are going to be off to sleep soon. Moce Mada (good night).
