Woke up to sunshine this morning, which is a rare treat. But that wasn't enough to fully melt the icy snow/hail that fell last night. My tent site turned into a mossy bog! On the water I headed across towards the dam wall but aimed north of it. Hydro Tasmania have given me maps of where watercraft, including Dave the Ruby Currant, are not allowed. They are probably worried I'll get sucked into the power station and turned into electricity.

Signs of Other Humans
I made the opposite shoreline with the wind really blowing. At the first chance I pulled in and looked for a campsite. Luckily I found an old road that the lake has partly cut off and pitched the tent. The driftwood from the trees that were dammed when this lake was formed has collected in the little bay beside me. I know a few people who would love to come and collect some to make garden art! Is anyone out there doing river art? Let me know if you are as we'll collect photos of it for possible inclusion in a Cirque 2 Sea booklet.
Unfortunately I've also found the first human rubbish. I expect there will be more the closer I get to Hobart. The week three feature creature is the black swan. I haven't seen one yet but I did see a black cormorant. I've photographed three plants from nearby. See if you can guess which is which. There is a banksia (Banksia marginata), pink mountain berry (Cyathodes parvifolia) and mountain pepper (Tasmannia lanceolata). Someone please also check my scientific names for these!
